This is a 30” by 15” by 1.5” oil painting on gallery wrapped canvas in 2025. During my mid twenties, my dad and I would backpack parts of the Superior Hiking Trail, and one of my favorite parts of these trips was eating a nice meal at night by the campfire after a long day out hiking. Fun fact, I packed an 80 pound backpack for my first trip the Superior Hiking trail against all advice - my dad and I nicknamed this pack the torpedo! I lasted about an hour with the pack. Thankfully for that first trip, my sister’s house was near, and I unloaded about 45 pounds of “necessary” items (that was what I initially thought anyway. Ha!). This painting emphasizes the red embers and the sparks from the fire igniting the indigo sky. If you listen closely when looking at this painting, you can hear the crackle!
